Opening Saturday 6 May, 4 - 6pm, Exhibition May 6 - July 1, 2017, Tu, W, F, Sa 10am-5:30pm, Th 11am-7pm
This exhibition features a 30-year span of work by artists who exemplify the ethos of Silicon Valley in the form of the genius "garage" inventor. Many of these artists have deep roots in the Bay Area & they all channel a streak of "mad scientist" to experiment, discover & innovate. Yet their works are more than high-tech marvels. Each of these artists harnesses their esoteric skills & knowledge to delve into existential conundrums & to explore the metaphysics of emotion, perception & consciousness.
Featured artists include the Nam June Paik, MIT-educated artists Alan Rath & Jim Campbell, Stanford professor Gail Wight, Tim Hawkinson, Charles Linday & Rachel Sussman.
