Ganbatte! Presented by Ruth Asawa School of the Arts World Music program

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts World Music Department Presents GANBATTE! - a grand showcase of Japanese Taiko, Afro-Cuban, Afro-Brazilian drumming, Filipino Kulintang, Reggae-Frevo and Jazz ensembles featuring the department's student performers and the dynamic curriculum of this San Francisco Unified School arts program, the only public school program in the nation offering hands-on percussion and musical instruction from ethnic cultures around the globe.

Ganbatte!, a Japanese saying often used to mean 'Give it Your Best' or 'Let's Go!' before a performance, amplifies and defines the excitement of performing after an absence of two years due to COVID-19 shutting down all in-person performing arts. For these high school students, this saying also relates to life as they celebrate the near completion of their first year of in-person school and slowly returning to a new normal.

Four benefit concerts will take place May 19-22, 2022 at the ODC Theater at 3153 17th St, San Francisco, CA (ADA and wheelchair accessible). All ticket proceeds make instruction, instrumentation, and performances like this possible. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for general admission. Purchase a VIP ticket for $85 and receive priority seating, a photo opportunity with performers before the show, a Ruth Asawa Socho of the Arts World Music hooded sweatshirt, and two free concession items. All tickets are reserved and must be purchased in advance. Purchase your Tickets Today! We are fundraising to make this show possible. Make a tax-deductible donation on World Music Spring 2022 Go Fund Me Campaign to help keep these ticket costs low, provide student performers meals and transportation, and help with the production costs to be at ODC Theater, one of San Francisco's premier performance venues. Donations of any amount help us reach our goal.
