Napa Valley Film Festival Presents Special Screenings of acclaimed documentary G-Dog April 17 and 18 as part of the non-profit’s year-round Education & Outreach Programs

G-Dog’s inspirational subjects Louis Perez and Hector Verdugo will be in attendance for extended Q&A discussion with LEGACY students and community about the extraordinary organization Homeboy Industries

The Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF) is thrilled to present the film G-Dog to the Napa Valley community as a part of year-round NVFF Education & Outreach Programs. The documentary film follows Father Greg Boyle (popularly known as G-Dog), a white Jesuit priest who’s spent 25 years in the toughest part of East L.A., and who built Homeboy Industries to serve high-risk, former gang members, male and female, with a continuum of free services and programs. Homeboy operates seven social enterprises that serve as job-training sites. The film received several standing ovations at NVFF last November for its Academy and Emmy Award-winning director, Frieda Mock (Maya Lin: A Strong Vision; the upcoming Anita Hill documentary Anita - Speaking Truth To Power) and leading subjects Perez and Verdugo, who were in attendance.

NVFF is proud to bring G-Dog back to Napa Valley, and host the two heroic and inspirational subjects of the film for these special screenings: Louis Perez and Hector Verdugo. These two men are both former gang members from East L.A., who now work alongside Father Greg at Homeboy Industries, mentoring at-risk teens who come to them looking for a life-changing opportunity. There will be two screenings of the film, followed by an extended discussion with “homeboys” Perez and Verdugo. The screenings are:

Wednesday April 17 - 5:30pm - 9:00pm, Napa District Auditorium, corner of Jefferson and Lincoln. 2425 Jefferson St Napa, CA 94558

Thursday April 18 - 6:30pm - 9:30pm at American Canyon High School Auditorium, 3000 Newell Dr. American Canyon, CA 95403

Admission for both events is FREE for students with a valid student ID and 2013 NVFF Patrons, $5 for adults. Tickets will be sold at the door.
