The Pacific Art League of Palo Alto (PAL) will host two new exhibitions, June 7-28, 2013, in its transitional location at 227 Forest Avenue in Palo Alto and will present a special art exhibition and performance on June 7, 2013.
The main gallery will feature “Fur, Feathers, and Fins,†an exhibition of 37 photos, drawings, paintings, and prints by 29 artists selected from 90 entries by juror Michael Azgour, an internationally renowned artist specializing in abstract figurative painting. He has taught at the Pacific Art League and currently teaches in Stanford University’s Architectural Design and Continuing Education programs.
An exhibition of paintings by Pacific Art League member Zhaonan Duan of San Jose will be featured in the Glass Gallery. Born in Dali, Yunnan Province, China, Mr. Duan specializes in Chinese opera portraits. He is also a successful playwright. His paintings are exhibited internationally. In addition to the two continuing exhibitions, during the Pacific Art League’s First Friday opening reception on June 7, 2013, from 5:30-8:00pm, the Modern & Abstract Artist Group, eight artists who study at Pacific Art League with artist Leah Lubin, will exhibit their work in Studio 2, on the second floor. There will also be a special performance presented by Leah Lubin, “The Beats – Where It all Began,†a nostalgic art exhibition with live music and poetry readings dedicated to the Beat era of Jack Kerouac and Ken Kesey. Featured performers include host Terry Adams, Vic Lovell, Sergio & Alan of La Honda Films, Waverley Writers of Palo Alto, Michelle Silver, Gary Horsman, Jym Marks, and Monica Zones.
Complimentary refreshments will be served.
Gallery hours are 10am to 5pm Monday through Friday. Admission is free.
