Full Circle Art Show

at Merchants of Reality (see times)
Our work is a response to materials and objects.

Subjective objects, objective materials.
Objective objects, subjective materials.
Subjective objects, subjective materials.
Objective objects, objective materials.

What is personal and what is neutral?
Where does subjectivity and objectivity begin?
The formal object inspires originality - a catalyst for something new.

In a series of deductions and only in the pervasiveness of objects do they become perverse. But perhaps this may be the answer and the question built into one – creating an uncertainty. Deep rooted, but these roots have been disconnected by the physical distance to be reunited through a practice of object making.

Full Circle.

By ‘objects’ I mean unified realities – physical or otherwise – that cannot fully be reduced either downwards to their pieces or upwards to their effects. We know that human and inanimate bodies cannot exist without tiny physical subcomponents. Yet we also know that objects have a certain degree of robust reality that can withstand changes in those components. An object is emergent beyond its subcomponents, and cannot be explained exhaustively by its pieces alone.

Reminiscence to the material quality of all of these speculative aspects to the material and the human relationships we have to associate with to make sense of all of it.

Featuring artwork by
Jenalee Harmon • Megan Mueller • George Sanders • Sam Scharf • Matthew Usinowicz
