From NYC, The Evan Sherman Quintet

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The EVAN SHERMAN Quintet is a collective of some of the most exciting young rising stars on the national and international jazz scene. A vibrant mix of Grammy nominees, Juilliard students, and Roy Hargrove band alums, these NYC cats will present a captivating program that puts a fresh spin on jazz classics as well as paying tribute and celebrating the legacy of one of the great legends of jazz: Roy Hargrove.

The group is led by 26 year old drummer Evan Sherman, who toured internationally with Roy Hargrove. At age 21 Sherman founded The Evan Sherman Big Band, regularly featured at Lincoln Center, Blue Note, Rainbow Room and other iconic NYC venues. Sherman's unique and versatile percussion prowess has landed him ongoing performances and international tours with some of the top jazz icons of our time: Ron Carter, Roy Hargrove, Branford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, Cyrus Chestnut and others.

GRAMMY-nominated Patrick Bartley -- saxophonist, composer and bandleader -- has appeared on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and was featured in the Emmy-nominated HBO special "Wynton Marsalis: A YoungArts Masterclass" which premiered at MOMA in NYC. Sherman began performing with Bartley in the GRAMMY Jazz Ensemble when they both were in high school, and they have continued to collaborate in various groups in the US and globally.

Anthony Hervey -- currently a student at Juilliard and the protege of famed trumpeter Wynton Marsalis -- has performed at many of NYC's most venerable jazz venues including Dizzy's and Lincoln Center. Anthony's command of the instrument and captivating performance style has enthralled many NYC audiences.

Pianist Sean Mason, also a Juilliard student, leads his own trio which is featured weekly at the famed Greenwich Village Smalls jazz club. His creative talents extend beyond the ivories to singing, composing and fashion styling.

A native of Copenhagen, bassist Felix Moseholm is also a Juilliard student who is one of the most swinging, in-demand bassists in NYC. Felix's passion for jazz was fueled during his teens by nights at the famed Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen absorbing the energy of international jazz greats performing on stage.

Though only a quintet, this dynamic ensemble of young rising stars delivers the verve and swing of a classic big band!
