From Carnegie Hall to Walnut Creek
-West Coast Premiere of The Quantum Effect by Dwight Stone, Rossmoor Resident

On Sunday, October 19 at 4:00 pm, The Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra opens its 2025-2026 season with "Fall Classics" at the Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church.

The program features Rossmoor's own Dwight Stone, who is an enormously gifted composer, pianist, and conductor. His creation, The Quantum Effect, won a prestigious composition competition and premiered at Carnegie Hall earlier this year. The highly-imaginative piece evokes harmonies beyond the mainstream and will highlight Dwight on vibraphone.

The concert also includes Schumann's high-spirited and lyrical Overture, Scherzo and Finale (Opus 52) which is among his finest orchestral works. The program closes with Beethoven's Symphony No.2, which was written during one of the darkest times in his life, as his encroaching hearing loss became impossible for him to ignore. Nonetheless, it brims with energy, optimism, and musical jokes.

Tickets are available on the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra website and at the door.

Adult $25, Senior $20, Student $10.
