Opening reception April 28, 1-3pm, exhibition through June 2
The Harrington Gallery at the Firehouse Arts Center announces the opening of the much-anticipated FRESH WORKS VIII Annual Open Juried Fine Arts Exhibition on Saturday, April 28. Fresh Works has become a Bay Area "go-to" exhibit for established artists as well as new talent. As always, the show includes an interesting and eclectic variety of pieces, including paintings in oil, watercolor, and acrylic, colored pencil drawing, sculpture, fibre, mosaic, and photography.
The show will be on display from opening day through June 2 during regular gallery hours, except on opening day, when the gallery is closed until 1:00 p.m. The gallery is also open two hours before shows in the Firehouse Theater to all guests holding a paid show ticket.
This year the Harrington Gallery received 473 qualified entries from 177 artists in a wide variety of disciplines, and from throughout the greater Bay Area and Northern California. 73 works by 63 different artists were selected by independent juror Beverly Rayner.
RECEPTION & AWARDS CEREMONY: The exhibition opens Saturday, April 28, with a gala Artists' Reception from 1:00-3:00 p.m. The Artist's Reception will offer an opportunity for guests to chat with artists about their inspirations, processes, and influences. Awards Ceremony begins at 1:45 p.m. The show's juror Beverly Rayner will be on hand, and will give a short presentation. Light refreshments will be served. Suggested donation is $5.
YOUNG@ART: The Young@Art session for this exhibit is titled "Colorific!" and will be held on Thursday, May 10, from 4:30-5:45 pm. Kids ages 5-11 will visit the exhibit and talk about the works and techniques.
