The Stewart Tartan Pipes and Drums will present their 20th Annual Free Holiday Scottish Concert on Saturday, December 6, 2014, starting at 3:00 PM at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga (13601 Saratoga Avenue, Saratoga, California - corner of Fruitvale Ave & Saratoga Ave).
The concert features bagpipes & drums, Scottish ballads, and special guest appearances by the Peninsula Scottish Fiddlers and the San Jose School of Highland Dancing.
Families are welcome (and encouraged to come). Coffee, juice and shortbread will be served following the concert.
"The band is a relaxed group of musicians, drawn together as much by the camaraderie of the band as our shared interest in the music", said Paul Olson, Drum Major. Current membership is twenty-five, with experience ranging from one year to almost forty years. New pipers and drummers are always welcome. The band practices in Saratoga, CA, on Tuesday evenings. This is the band's third year with a Grade 5 competition band. In 2015 the band will also field a Grade 4, WUSPBA affiliated, competition band
Other notable band performances include a mix of parades, shows, birthdays, weddings and special events, Disneyland, PGA's The President's Cup golf tournament, Silicon Valley Open, SF Giants pre-game, Oakland Raiders pre-game, Davies Symphony Hall, Grace Cathedral, FaceBook and the Mountain Winery with the Chieftains. The Holiday Concert is the highlight of the season.
Donations gratefully accepted.
