'Free Radicals' By Sarupa Sidaarth: Opening Reception

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Four Barrel Coffee and The Mill are pleased to present 'Free Radicals' by Sarupa Sidaarth. 'Free Radicals' is a series of abstract paintings that formed as a natural byproduct of Sarupa Sidaarth’s figurative artistic process. Presented as a complement to her figurative work, these paintings function to de-stress and to express a greater immediacy through an uninhibited sensory experience. As they are devoid of subject matter, the paint asserts itself and comes alive, refusing to embrace illusion. Displayed alongside these abstract works is a series of figurative paintings inspired by traditional ornament, which is ridden by hierarchy and bias. Sidaarth’s materials and techniques explore the value we assign to objects and to art. Her work expresses a need for change and explores the possibility of the new. Join us on Friday, January 19th from 6-8pm for the opening reception of this exhibition of new work. Drinks will be served and the artist will be in attendance.

Born in India, Sarupa Sidaarth studied at Sir J.J. School of Art and received her MFA at Academy of Art in San Francisco. Her awards and achievements include the Golden Foundation Residency in New York, the NordArt Exhibition in Germany, the K.K Modi Fellowship, and the Pasca scholarship to France. She lives and works in Marin County, California.

The Mill is a cafe and bakery that has been supporting artists with exhibitions since 2013. This exhibition is free and open to the public. The Mill is located at 736 Divisadero St., and is open from 7am until 9pm every day. Contact [email protected] and visit themillsf.com and fourbarrelcoffee.com.
