A talented producer, singer, songwriter, mul4-instrumentalist and DJ, Fred again.. first began releasing music with his 'Actual Life' series. An exercise in unique sampling using YouTube rips, Face4me calls and voicenotes from friends, the concept of 'Actual Life' took on new meaning over the next two years as Fred built a global community of fans, emboldened by Fred's willingness to seek both joy and inspira4on in every day interac4ons. Three 'Actual Life' albums were released between 2021 and 2022, with 'Actual Life 3' landing Fred his first ever UK Top 5 album and a Mercury Prize nomina4on.
2023 saw Fred start the year by joining forces with Skrillex & grime MC, Flowdan, on Skrillex single 'Rumble' in January - which was first teased during his Boiler Room debut in the summer of 2022.
AYer playing a series of pop-up shows in London alongside Skrillex and Four Tet later that month, the trio then went onto sell-out the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York in February - over 19,000 4ckets were sold in less than 10 minutes - and later headline the final night of Coachella, playing to over 125,000 people and an addi4onal 3+ million who have since re-watched their set on YouTube. Elsewhere in 2023, Fred also recorded a special Tiny Desk Concert for NPR in April, which saw him relearn the marimba, play a vibraphone, sit at a piano and loop beats on his laptop simultaneously, while in May, he joined forces with Brian Eno on 'Secret Life' - a surprise-drop 13 track ambient album released on Four Tet's Text Records imprint.
In June, Fred made his Glastonbury debut which pulled in one of the largest crowds in the Other Stage's history, before going on to sell-out a total of 5x shows at London's Alexandra Palace in just one week back in early September. Punctuated by statement releases - UK #4 single 'adore u' alongside Obongjayar & 'ten' Y. Jozzy - Fred closed out 2023 with a sold-out EU tour run, 3x sold-out shows at NY's Forest Hills Stadium and a further 9x sold-out shows at LA's Shrine Expo Hall, as well as recent single 'leavemealone' Y. Baby Keem, released in December.
The start of 2024 saw Fred breaking records on a historic tour of Australia, selling out a run of arenas announced within a week of the tour star4ng. Landing in Australia in secret and announcing a Sydney Opera House show the day he arrived, the tour culminated in Fred's biggest headline show to date, a 35,000 capacity party in Perth announced just three days before.
Fred's 'infinite' album 'USB' had it's first volume released on vinyl this April, a record that Fred plans to add to con4nuously over 4me. Fred started making records to include on his own USB for DJ shows, this album documents the records he made for that purpose including collabs with Skrillex, Four Tet, Swedish House Mafia, Romy and Lil Yachty.
His next single 'places to be' featuring Anderson Paak was announced in May 2024, with rumours of another studio album on the way this year.
Fred describes his music as 'Actual Life', a trademark sound that features vocals uncovered from the unlikeliest of sources; from obscure YouTube clips to personal FaceTime conversations, random Instagram accounts and iPhone video footage of half-remembered nights out. The end results - often made on the move wherever Fred has his laptop - shift between dancefloor-inspired euphoria and yearning melancholy and you'll hear the likes of The Blessed Madonna, Mr Eazi and Headie One among lesser known voices.
