The Harker Concert Series will celebrate its fifth anniversary with another strong lineup of artists. Kicking off the season on Oct. 17 will be violinist Frank Almond, bringing with him the famous 1715 “Lipinski†Stradivarius, most recently valued at $5 million. Currently concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Almond’s past stints include concertmaster of the Rotterdam Philharmonic and guest concertmaster of the London Philharmonic. Since being one of the youngest prize-winning participants in the Nicolo Paganini Competition at the age of 17, Almond has appeared as guest concertmaster with the Seattle Symphony, Dallas Symphony and more, in addition to a busy performance schedule that includes the Ojai Festival, Frankly Music and Japan’s Nara Academy. Almond was recently at the center of a headline-grabbing story after the “Lipinski†was stolen from him after a concert. It was recovered nine days later.
The concert will take place at the Nichols Hall auditorium on Harker’s upper school campus, located at 500 Saratoga Ave. in San Jose. All concerts begin at 8 p.m. A 7 p.m. reception will be held prior to each concert, with complimentary soft drinks and hors d'oeuvres. A cash bar for wine and beer also will be available. General admission for each concert is $20. For more information please contact
