Diaz Scotto's new body of work is inspired by nostalgic memories found in a film camera at the artist's family home in Misiones, Argentina. Known for its subtropical weather and mostly jungle environment, Misiones creates a habitat of lush floral and plant life. The found film contains images of orchids and plants grown by his grandmother. Each frame unpacks images of joyful flowers and surface details of a domestic landscape frozen in time: the dishes in the kitchen, tables with plates and bowls strewn about them and lawn chairs resting under the eaves of a house. The artist focuses on these lost moments while creating his large scale still-life paintings.
