Desta Gallery is pleased to present "Fragment Layers," a solo exhibition of paintings by Greg Ragland. The exhibition is on view from November 27, 2019 to January 14, 2020. An artist's reception will be held on Saturday, December 7th, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Greg is a painter, sculptor, and public artist and works in a wide variety of media. Greg grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He studied architecture at ASU, received his BFA from Art Center College of Design and his MFA from the University of Utah. He has lived and worked in Los Angeles, New York City, Park City, Utah, and now Southern Utah. Greg has exhibited nationally, and his work has been acquired by many private and public collections.
Craig's work often incorporates elements of non-verbal thoughts observing his environment and natural surroundings resulting in two distinct themes of creative expression. One body of work explores aesthetically pleasing fractal patterns that result in a calming yet rhythmic imagery. A second line of work contrasts hyper-realistic portraits of nature with abstract, monotonous backgrounds allowing the viewer to get seduced by nature's beauty.
