Dystopia is Oakland’s premiere Drum & Bass monthly every 4th Friday at Lounge 3411. Faultline is Oakland’s premiere Breaks crew throwing parties in Oakland & San Francisco. Our communities have joined forces to create memorable nights of auditory satisfaction. Foundation 4.0 is here and occurs at BRIX 581 every 2nd Friday of the month.

In the mid 90’s, Red Army aka ‘James Fuhring’ rocked audiences in seminal punk/hardcore bands Mohinder and Jenny Piccolo. It was during the latter that he accidentally discovered the sound of Drum & Bass while in Berlin on a European tour. James was so blown away by this sound; he shortly sold all of his music equipment to buy a sampler, turntables and a mixer. The first two years were rough as he knew no one involved in DNB, only a local Santa Cruz radio show called 'The Metallic Blurp,' hosted by the Argon Records crew. James, on a whim, emailed the radio show to ask if he could meet up with other like minds. There he would meet the other two members that would form the 3-piece, Red Army. Together, they would shortly set dance floors on fire with releases on Skunkrock, Argon, Phuturo and eventually, N2O. A part of the House of Aviance since 1989, One A, also known as Gehno Aviance started DJing in 1992 and got his start playing at legendary East Coast parties and raves such as Ultraworld (BALT) and Buzz (DC). In the early 90's he joined the Snowball Collective from NYC and DC and went on to throw some of the most-talked (to this day) underground and weekly parties in Washington DC. In 1998 he moved to San Francisco where he has continued to dj and hone his talent to this day. His sound is an amalgam of 22+ years of musical influences which has been described as Deep Garage Tech. His sets incorporate Deep Tech, Garage, Breaks and Techno into a seamless musical journey deep rooted in the past whist always keeping his finger on the pulse of the future.
