More info on Soil Painting:
The Talaandig, an indigenous people of Bukidnon, create soil paintings with the earth of their tribal lands, bound to the canvas using white glue. Created in the soothing tones of browns, reds, and grays of the soil, the subject matter also reflects tribal beliefs, practices, and their close association with the land. All sales of soil paintings benefit the Talaandig painters and tribe.
Soil painting is promoted as an artistic and creative medium for cultural awareness, education and preservation of indigenous cultural heritage of the Talaandig People and other tribes of Mindanao. Based on principles of self-governance, self-reliance, and cultural sovereignty, the project uses soil painting as a medium for peace campaign and advocacy in Mindanao and around it.
