Flynn Cohen's 2023 US tour features duo performances of original and traditional instrumentals from multiple fiddle music traditions as well as original, traditional, and contemporary folk songs. His guitar playing is influenced by a wide range of flatpicking, strumming, and fingerpicking styles and his mandolin work is inspired by bluegrass, old time, Irish, and classical playing.
Flynn is a former guitar student of John Renbourn, Davey Graham, and Scott Nygaard, and he also studied composition with Pauline Oliveros. His original music is simultaneously both experimental and traditional, staying within the bounds of his many stylistic influences but always pushing subtly against the conventions. He will be joined on his West Coast dates by Low Lily bandmate and San Francisco-born folk singer Liz Simmons (vocals, acoustic guitar).
