There aren't a lot of bands that have come out of Gilroy. Most famous was Salmon. Nowadays, there's Flesh Weapon, whose fusion of dark '90s music-industrial, goth, nu-metal, hip-hop-could almost be plucked right out of the Cactus Club 20 years ago. Yet, it's their heavy use of electronics and technology that gives the sound a fresh spin. The four-piece includes two guitarists and two MIDI programmers (with multiple members on vocals). As carefully composed and serious as their music is, they bring a lot of spontaneous energy to their shows. They are the kind of band that'll do freestyle spoken-word or unplanned guitar solos. Sadly, this will be their second to last show before breaking up. Gilroy won't be the same without them.
