Please join the San Francisco Interfaith Council and local civic leaders as we explore together the interconnections of faith, financial empowerment, and building up our communities.
Co-hosted by a planning committee of woman of faith and action, including Temple Emanu-El Senior Rabbi Beth Singer, Human Rights Commissioner Hala Hijazi, St. Mark's Lutheran Church Lead Pastor Elizabeth Ekdale, and Grace Cathedral’s The Reverend Canon Dr. Ellen Clark-King, this special "mini-summit" will feature our very own San Francisco Treasurer Jose Cisneros, and Commissioner on the Status of Women Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz, a nationally recognized expert on financial literacy.
Vast inequities in pay, wealth accumulation, retirement planning, and financial literacy, management, and readiness still exist locally for many in our diverse communities and this event will help raise awareness about this critical issue that touches all of our lives. The program will feature introductions from faith leaders on social justice, a keynote from Commissioner Schwab-Pomerantz on the importance of financial literacy, and a vibrant discussion lead by Treasurer Cisneros about the robust platform of financial capabilities resources that our City and area nonprofits have to offer.
A “Financial Resources Guide” will also be disseminated by the Treasurer’s Office of Financial Empowerment detailing the many important tools and programs provided by our City's impressive network of providers, and opportunities to activate trained, on-the-ground financial capabilities coaches who work throughout with communities throughout San Francisco. Convening for inclusivity, we will be joined by a strong delegation of peers from amongst San Francisco’s various faith-based congregations, community associations, labor organizations, and relevant social service nonprofits and empowerment groups.
We look forward to seeing you in the new year.
