ArtSpan's Fall Open Studios, Weekend One, is the last public event for the Journal Building Artist Residency, located at 1540 Market St (X Van Ness) and distinguished by Joshua Coffy's 'Birdsong' mural. There will be 27+ participating artists on floors 2 and 3 with maps and directional arrows guiding the way.
Providing community and working space to 35 artists over 3 years, with a strong core of 8 artists who endured for the full run of the program, ArtSpan's Journal Building Studio Artist Residency thrives on the connections between participating artists inspiring and aiding one another's creativity while building lasting friendships on a foundation of service to the art community in addition to active engagement with the public under the auspices of ArtSpan, a non-profit 501-3(c). The program is currently slated to conclude at the end of December 2018 in advance of a new mixed-use housing and retail development project that will anchor a revitalization of the Van Ness and Market intersection.
