New Century Chamber Orchestra opens its 2019-2020 season with a program entitled "Fin de siecle" featuring works written at the turn of the 19th century. Teenage piano sensation Maxim Lando makes his New Century debut performing alongside Daniel Hope for a string orchestra arrangement of Chausson's Concert for Violin, Piano and String Quartet. Greek violinist Simos Papanas, a longtime collaborator of Hope's, also makes his debut leading the ensemble as Guest Concertmaster in a program that includes Edward Elgar's Introduction and Allegro, Op. 47 and Chanson de Matin; Jules Massenet's Meditation from Thais; Arnold Schoenberg's Notturno for Strings and Harp; a string orchestra arrangement of Richard Strauss's Morgen; and the second movement from Christian Sinding's Suite im alten Stil, Op. 10.

Praised by The New York Times as "astonishing" and "sensational," 16-year-old American pianist Maxim Lando gained national recognition when he appeared alongside Lang Lang at the 2017 Carnegie Hall Opening Night Gala to perform the left-hand parts intended for Lang Lang's injured hand. That same year, he appeared with the Marinsky Theatre Orchestra and has since performed with orchestras throughout the world including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Toronto Symphony and Russian National Orchestra.

For the past five years, versatile violinist Simos Papanas has been performing extensively with Daniel Hope including collaborations at the Schleswig Holstein and Savannah music festivals, as well as recordings such as Hope's acclaimed 2016 Deutsche Grammophon album "My Tribute to Yehudi Menuhin." Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, Papanas studied violin, baroque violin, composition and mathematics and has since gone on to lead a career in music that includes solo appearances with Staatskaplle Dresden, the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the Prague Symphony Orchestra.

$10 to $67.50.
