Filligar

Filligar is a touring rock quartet hailed as “one of the best young bands in America”. The lineup – three Mathias brothers and Casey Gibson – remains unchanged since the band’s early days recording and performing as teenagers in Chicago. The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) has recognized Filligar’s catalog of original music as of “prestige value” and the tastemaking Consequence of Sound has called their sound “a breath of fresh air.” Their latest release The Nerve was nominated for Best Rock album at the 2012 Independent Music Awards. Though prolific in the studio, live performance has become the band’s lifeblood. Boston’s RSL music blog named Filligar one of the Top 8 Live Acts in America alongside fellow Windy City rockers Wilco. Last summer they were hand-picked by Counting Crows to join their Outlaw Roadshow tour, and following this year’s CMJ Music Marathon in New York, SPIN Magazine named Filligar one of music’s “Next Big Things.” The band recently finished recording a new LP, set to release in the coming months.

TORCHES
T O R C H E S are a rock outfit that have been hypnotizing and swooning the Los Angeles scene. Their music has been aired on KROQ, KCRW, KPFK, KXLU and many stations all across the U.S. They have also been featured in BBC, LA Times, Filter Magazine, RCRD LBL, Buzz Bands LA etc. Torches have played mostly every nook and cranny in packed L.A. venues such as The Troubadour, The Satellite, The Echo, The Echoplex and more. They’ve toured throughout the country and have played at SXSW. Torches have been fortunate enough to work with Local Natives‘ producer, Raymond Richards, David Newton (The Soft Pack, The Henry Clay People, Happy Hollows) and Mark Chalecki who has mastered records for some of today’s most intriguing artists (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bright Eyes, Silversun Pickups, Liars, Sunn O))), Brian Jonestown Massacre). This trio is excited to put out records, pet as many animals as humanly possible, see the world, meet weird looking people, share experiences and much more.

Tracing Figures

Since 2008, Tracing Figures has rocked the San Francisco music scene with their fierce musical chops and high production values, tempered by soulful female vocals, guitar and synth wall-of-sound textures, and a rhythm section that grooves like clockwork.

Tracing Figures has always performed with a consistent draw at venues such as The Independent, The Rickshaw Stop, Bottom of the Hill, Café du Nord, Red Devil Lounge, Brick and Mortar, and El Rio. They have shared the stage with The Dandelion War, Via Coma, In Letter Form, The Family Flaw, Tomihira, Foxtail Somersault, The Love X Nowhere, Astral, Foreign Cinema, Your Cannons, …and more.

Tracing Figures’ music is a mix of synth-pop, new wave, and shoegaze, but the band fancies themselves a more melodic, ethereal version of 90’s alternative. Heavily influenced by the pop-tinged sounds of contemporary indie rock artists, the band is evocative of Blonde Redhead, M83, The Cure, and Autolux.

Founded in 2008 by guitarist Thad Baker (Anaura), the band's current lineup includes drummer Eric Bateman (Easy Street), keyboardist/guitarist Greg Zema(Mustache Harbor), bassist Ed Lipton (Wave Motion Gun), and vocalist Brianne Sherman (folk/indie/funk scenes of Ashland, Oregon).
