Join artist Matt Katsaros at Irving Street Projects (ISP) March 10 11am - 3pm for the opening reception for "Fielding Connections", a community space for art making and educational opportunities exploring the biodiversity of our area through fiber arts and fiber systems education.
Katsaros has organized a series of events and projects in collaboration with more than a dozen other participating Bay Area artists, designers, and educators. Inspired by his background as a fiber artist and natural dyer, these events not only demonstrate techniques used in his work, they also draw connections between his artistic practice and its related pursuits. In addition to programmed workshops, talks, classes, and collaborative projects, a series of pamphlets, maps, and other printed educational materials will be available for pickup at the gallery anytime.
The opening reception will feature a collaborative weaving project with artist Travis Meinhof. Other scheduled events, most of which are free to the public, include dye classes, community clothes mending, plein air drawing, experimental tapestry weaving, sewing instruction and more.
