FBGM

Rising Boston-based duo FBGM (Matt Jatkola, D. Orxata) is quickly becoming known for their genderless/genreless music and emotionally engaging performances. Their songwriting prominently features bittersweet lyrics, smooth harmonies, and versatile production influenced by dream pop, indie rock, R&B, and acoustic folk. They’ve elicited comparisons to Cocteau Twins, Low, Mazzy Star, My Bloody Valentine, and The Beatles, with some even describing their sensibilities as Lynchian.

Harlow's Monkeys (closing set)
http://www.harlowsmonkeys.com/

Spearheaded by Bay Area native songwriter and producer, Tommy P, Harlow’s Monkeys is a band that has a dynamic sound that ranges from delicate intimate truths to explosive rhythms. Tommy’s lyrical style is very simple, yet is capable of addressing with full poignancy the heart of the matter, whether it’s unrequited love or the existential ennui that plagues modern humans. People often comment on the ambiance Tommy’s songs have on a room, whether it’s slightly unsettling, welcoming or humorous, it can’t be ignored, and won’t fail to make an impression. Harlow’s Monkeys is a band that functions around the idea that music should be provocative and true. While some may claim that we are “post the truth,” Harlow’s Monkeys firmly believes that every recognize truth when they see or hear it. This band’s music will take you through the journeys or emotions that you may have long forgotten, or that you’re currently going through. In any case, listeners will often finish a Harlow’s Monkeys record feeling refreshed by the archetypical stories funneled through the quirky yet provocative voice of Tommy’s writing fleshed out by various good friends and musicians that make up the San Francisco music scene.

Remember Karen
https://karenarockband.bandcamp.com/

Remember Karen came together in the spring of 2015 in a weird practice space in South Berkeley. Jess, the drummer, has played in many bands covering many genres and is not afraid to take Remember Karen into the vortex from time to time. In addition, she is from Virginia, which is for lovers. Logan creates musical soundscapes with his axes, inspired by his days as a kid in the desert. He also is not afraid to take on any roof rats chewing up cables in your attic. Nick, who sings and plays guitar, recalls his reflection in the Puget Sound and closes his eyes and thinks of England to come up with the words for the music. Erica, the bassist, is the lone California-lifer and has never surfed or skateboarded. As the wise veteran of the group, she likes to keep the band honest. All together, Remember Karen tackles musical mountains, reads in between the lines, and appreciates a pop sensibility.
