We are pleased to welcome you -- museum members, donors, and the general public -- to the Faith Ringgold Celebration on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Poetry, music, and a writing workshop with The Last Hoisan Poets and special guests
1 - 2 pm \ Poetry performance, Koret Auditorium
3 - 4 pm \ Drop-in writing activity, Kimball Education Gallery
Hear poetry by The Last Hoisan Poets and special guests Tongo Eisen-Martin (San Francisco Poet Laureate) and Tshaka Campbell (Santa Clara Poet Laureate), informed by works in the exhibition Faith Ringgold: American People. The performance features harp music by Destiny Muhammad. A drop-in writing workshop with the poets will follow. Learn more.

Echoes of practice: Bay Area artists on Faith Ringgold
4 - 5 pm \ Koret Auditorium
Listen to a panel that brings together artists Angela Hennessy, Hannah Waiters, and Mattie Loyce to discuss the lasting impact of Ringgold's creative and community work, moderated by Devin Malone, director of public programs and community engagement at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Free tickets will be distributed on a first-come first-served basis an hour before the start of the program. Learn more.

Live jazz with Melba's Kitchen
5 - 8 pm \ Wilsey Court
Enjoy an expanded program of swingin' Harlem-influenced jazz from Melba's Kitchen -- the all-women big band celebrating Black women musical geniuses Melba Liston, Mary Lou Williams, and their friends.
