Fabulous Firsts

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Pittsburgh California Theatre (see times)
The Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra, with Geoffrey Gallegos, Music Director and Conductor, features an afternoon delight of Fabulous Firsts! The concert opens with Gioacchino Rossini's sparkling and energetic overture to his most famous, popular, and first opera of significant importance, and arguably the greatest masterwork of the Italian opera buffa (comic opera) genre, Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville.) The First Cello Concerto of Camille Saint-Saens, featuring soloist Federico Strand Ramirez, follows in all its virtuosic, dramatic, and lyrically elegant rhetoric. A member of the Golden Gate Philharmonic, this is Mr. Strand Ramirez's first appearance as soloist with the CCCO. Following intermission, the concert concludes with the Symphony No. 1 by Ludwig van Beethoven, the great titan's first of nine masterworks in this genre that profoundly influenced all symphonic music that came after.

These concerts also mark the first time that the CCCO will perform at the California Theatre in Pittsburg. Don't miss this musical treat of Fabulous Firsts!

Adult $25, Seniors $20, Students $10.
