SEE EVENT DETAILS
EXCURSIONS: Tiffany LinExhibition: May 18-June 8Opening Reception: May 18 7-10PMGallery Hours: By Appointment
The Growlery is proud to Present EXCURSIONS: Tiffany Lin. EXCURSIONS is a new set of exploratory maneuvers by itinerant (Bay Area bred) artist Tiffany Lin. The exhibition provides a glimpse into Lin’s recent forays in poetry, performance, and experimental narratives. EXCURSIONS will feature the debut of two self-published works: A MANUAL BY CODES - a coda to Lin’s 2018 collaborative performance on US flag handling rituals and BECOMING, a queer love story that investigates unconditional love, gendered bodies, and (im)material reality. The two books will be presented alongside new paintings, readings, and installations that further explore the body as container.
About The Artist: Tiffany Lin is a visual artist, wordsmith, and dreamer. She currently serves as a faculty member at the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View, CA and artistic collaborator at the Children’s Discovery Museum of San José. In addition to maintaining her conceptual practice, she is an active illustrator specializing in figurative representation and nontraditional narratives. She has worked as a freelancer and studio assistant for Printfresh, Deb Chaney Editions, Parsons the New School for Design’s Printmaking Department, and the Executives’ Alliance for Boys and Men of Color. As a youth educator and community organizer, she constantly seeks ways of creating immersive experiences for young people that are accessible, conceptually challenging, and a springboard for democratic exploration. She holds an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Illustration Practice and a dual BA in Gender & Women’s Studies and Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
