Essie Thomas EP Launch w/ Cellista and Lauren Tannenbaum - SF

SEE EVENT DETAILS
New Folk-Rock EP Release "All the Ways"
May 31, 7:30 PM Doors / 8:15 PM Show @ The Lost Curch, San Francisco.

Essie Thomas will debut a 6-piece band with haunting vocals featuring live musical support from a femme-fatale lineup including singer-songwriter Lauren Tannenbaum and avant-garde looping cello by Grammy-nominated circus artist Cellista. "All the Ways" is a five-track journey through vulnerability, desire, and resilience, with Essie leaning into their rural Australian roots while subtly weaving in textures of American alt-pop and cinematic strings.
Essie Thomas is a powerhouse in contemporary folk, with a sound that is often compared to legends like The Waifs, Janis Joplin, and Melissa Etheridge. Their distinctive style blends soulful vocals and captivating guitar work, invoking an era rich in musical tradition. Whether performing solo or with a full band, Essie infuses roots, blues and bohemian jazz into every note. Described by Blank magazine as a "Songwriter who doesn't mess with her words," Essie has been a fixture on Australian festival stages since the early 2000s, touring extensively across Australia and Canada.
Their commanding stage presence leaves audiences craving more. She has performed at Australia's most beloved festivals, including Woodford Folk Festival, Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, and Port Fairy Folk Festival, among others. Essie has shared the stage with some of Down Under's finest, including Shane Howard, Archie Roach, Hiatus Kaiyote, Mia Dyson, John Butler and Wolf Mother.

The Lost Church-a beloved listening room of the city, renowned for spotlighting independent artistry opens its doors to the event amidst widespread arts defunding and venue shuttering across the region.
"This EP is about all the ways we come undone, and all the ways we find ourselves again."

"All the Ways" will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major platforms on May 30th, 2025.

$20.
