Elmer Bischoff Figurative Paintings and Drawings, 1953-1972 is an exhibition of paintings and drawings that explore Bischoff's figurative period, presented by George Adams Gallery.
Known as one of the founders of Bay Area figuration, along with Richard Diebenkorn and David Park, Bischoff's work reflects key elements of this seminal Bay Area movement. Among the works on view will be a series of drawings Bischoff made as part of a group of artists, including Joan Brown, Gordon Cook, and Manuel Neri, who met each week in Berkeley in the early 70s to draw from a live model, a practice that was unusual at the time. All of Bischoff's drawings feature the artists gathered in his works, reflecting a significant moment in Bay Area art history.
This exhibition is organized by George Adams Gallery and takes place in Room 107, the downstairs gallery of Anglim/Trimble.
