Eliyahu Sills and Amir Etemadzadeh are musicians of sensitivity, passion, skill, and nuance with years of experience performing. Presented with reverence, soul, and creativity, they will play music from Iran, Turkey, Israel, and the Arabic-speaking world, celebrating the common musical and spiritual heritage of the region’s cultures, while honoring the great diversity found within them.   FEATURING: Eliyahu Sills – Turkish & Persian ney, Arabic nai, oud, vocals Amir A Etemadzadeh – tombak, daf, tar, vocals   ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Eliyahu Sills is a highly acclaimed musician of many instruments with deep knowledge in multiple musical traditions, from spiritual music of the Middle East and India to American soul and jazz. He is a leader and collaborator of many projects, most notably the Qadim Ensemble—which brings together diverse cultures of the Middle East and whose album reached #7 on Billboard’s World Music charts—and BOLO—which blends infectious rhythms of dance music, jazz improvisation, global influences, and the soulfulness of devotional kirtan. Sills also performs as a solo artist and with his duo, playing Hindustani ragas, Sufi music, and Jewish songs. Known for his authenticity and soulful musicianship, he has been performing for over 20 years on various instruments, including the bansuri, Turkish and Arabic ney, upright bass, and electric bass.
Amir A Etemadzadeh is a Middle Eastern musician, instructor, performer, and composer. Born and raised in Iran, he received an extensive education in music from various masters. After arriving in the U.S. in 2002, he expanded his portfolio to include percussion instruments from around the world. Etemadzadeh has collaborated in numerous performances and recordings with several known musicians and groups, such as Ethel String Quartet, Hafez Modirzadeh, Ramin Zoufonoun, Miriam Pretz, Qadim Ensemble, Silk Road Festival, and Cal Poly Middle Eastern Music Orchestra to name a few. Passionate about promoting peace through music and music education, Etemadzadeh manages his own organization, Mint Tea Music Production, and his music academy, Amir School of Music.

EVENT TIME
When should I arrive?Doors open 30 minutes before the scheduled performance time. For example, if the show is scheduled to start at 7:30pm, the doors will open at 7:00pm. If the show is scheduled to start at 8:00pm, the doors will open at 7:30pm, and so on.
TICKETING & ADMISSION
When does the box office open to buy tickets at the door?Guests may buy tickets when doors open 30 minutes before the scheduled performance time. Ticket availability at the door is limited and contingent on online sales for each show.
Does purchasing an advance ticket guarantee seating?Purchasing an advance ticket guarantees admission, but does not guarantee seats. Seating is first come, first serve.
Does the Poppy accept debit or credit cards?At this time, we can only accept cash and check. Credit card processing will be coming soon.
What's the refund policy?Refunds are only available in the event of a cancelled performance.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?No, this event is all ages. However, wine and beer will be served at the concessions counter.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?You may bring your printed ticket or show your ticket on your phone. There will be no tickets available for pick up at Will Call.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?Yes, you’re welcome to purchase tickets for someone else.
VENUE & LOCATION
Is the space ADA accessible?Yes, there is a ramp at our 23rd St entrance.
What kind of seating do you have available?For most of our events we have folding chairs and a few couches available.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?Street parking is available but can be limited around the Red Poppy. We encourage you to take public transportation whenever possible. Several MUNI lines run close to the Red Poppy, and the 24th St. Mission BART station is just under half a mile away.
What can I bring into the event?Guests are welcome to bring food. Beverages are available by suggested donation. We recommend bringing collapsible strollers, if possible.
