Foodies! Come celebrate and mingle with fellow food lovers, writers and artists at Montalvo's Final Friday Series. Join Spoonwiz (www.spoonwiz.com) for a special "community table" reading and discussion about the future of food writing followed by Montalvo's gallery opening.
6:00 pm Mingle (Light noshables)
6:30 pm Spoonwiz Panel Reading + Discussion (Eat.Think.Dream)
7:30 pm Montalvo Gallery Opening (Mountains in My Spoon)
Panel Discussion: Join award-winning author and founder of spoonwiz.com Andrew Pham for lively readings and a “community table” panel conversation about eating local, thinking global, and the future of food and wine writing. Moderated by Lisa Catherine Harper (co-editor, The Cassoulet Saved Our Marriage), our speakers include:
- Paul Reidinger, former restaurant critic SF Bay Guardian
- Greg Dicum, author, The Pisco Book
- Paul Einbund, Beverage Director, Frances restaurant
- Kathryn Kefauver, founder, Oh Veg at LocalEats.com
- Amber Turpin, food writer, artisan baker and contributor to CivilEats.com
- Nicki Richesin, freelance writer (Sunset, 7×7, DuJour) and editor of 4 anthologies, including Crush
- Lisa McNamara, Los Angeles based food writer and contributor to Leites.com
Delicious culinary morsels prepared by local artisan food makers will be available to sample and purchase.
Gallery Opening: Celebrate Montalvo’s opening of Mountains in My Spoon with the participating artists in the Project Space Gallery. Featuring photography, video, installation and social sculpture, Mountains in my Spoon celebrates Lucas Artists Program Fellow’s exploration of food ─ the experience of eating together, the work of those who nourish us, the role of food in fostering wellbeing, and the complex political relationship we have with what we eat.
There will be magazine and book tables displaying works by local writers (Catherine Segurson, Catamaran and Thy Tran, Asian Culinary Forum to name a few) and plenty of opportunities to connect with the writers themselves.
The event is FREE. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
