East Bay Orchestra Goes Around the World In 80 Minutes

Violinist Phillip Santos, of Bay Area orchestras, will appear with the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra in a season-opening tour around the world. Santos will be featured in Czech composer Antonin Dvorak's passionate Romance in F minor and fiery Mazurek.

Other stops include Wagner's majestic Prelude to "Die Meistersinger", Eric Satie's exquisite Gymnopodies 1&3, Hector Berlioz's rousing Hungarian March, Malcolm Arnold's dramatic 4 Scottish Dances, Emmanuel Chabrier's sensual Habanera, and the premiere of Bay Area composer Benjamin Taylor's Toccata for Orchestra.

Educator and conductor Timothy Smith will guide the audience with fascinating insights into the composers' lives and work.
