In our 14th-annual Early Music Christmas, we'll weave together 17th-century music from three European countries--Germany, England and France--to tell the story of the Nativity of Jesus. Featured composers include Michael Praetorius (1571-1621), Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625), and Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643-1704). We'll also feature an utterly delightful German Magnificat by Thomas Selle, not exactly a household name, though perhaps he ought to be. The Sonoma Bach Choir will be joined by brass, viols, and organ as we surprise and delight you with music that serenades us from the Annunciation to the Visitation into a joyful celebration of the Nativity of the Christ Child.
