For our October shows, Dystopia has always presented very special evenings celebrating Halloween, Samhain and DJ R3M’s aka Michael Remson’s birthday. We have an astronomical evening planned for all of our fam bam, supporters and loyal Dystopian’s which will include an incredible lineup, delicious food, tasty beverages and a costume contest during the show. Prizes will be presented to the 1st and 2nd runner up…So attending in costume is STRONGLY encouraged…

A classically-trained keyboardist and working musician based in Chicago, STUNNA (aka J. Cappo) has crafted his own unique sound within the fast-paced world of Drum + Bass music. Drum & Bass duo from Los Angeles CA comprised of the two veteran DJ’s and producers Nicholas Joyce and Mark Merlino better known as SICKorWELL & Markem. They come together with a beautiful dynamic to create “theStandard.” Taking the past two years off from other projects to build their body of work and lock in their original sound they have been locked away in the studio turning down solo ventures to direct their focus on building a fresh perspective with a brand new inspiration. This has fueled these two to really start the ball rolling and they are picking up some real steam fast since they have gone public recently.
One recent highlight was catching the attention of world famous DJ SS with their production and it has led to forthcoming releases on the world famous outlet Formation Records, one of which including a massive collaborative project with American bad man STUNNA and a nice solo theStandard bit coming in later this year. This is just one of many of the major highlights to keep an ear open for in the coming months. These guys have a laser focus and have zoned in on reaching new levels of success with theStandard. It's safe to say they are starting out strong with a handful of quality releases out on some really respected labels it's looking that the sky is the limit for theStandard.

From turntablist to sound designer, DJ and producer Nick Dagger has always carved his own unique musical path. With a style that fuses elements of reggae, hip-hop, drum & bass, and electronica, Dagger manages to combine a blend of synthetic, digital, and organic sounds. With a moniker that reflects his sharp attention to detail and technical skill as a turntablist and producer, Nick Dagger has remained true and humble in the underground music community by incorporating his love for sound and movement into his creative genre-bending DJ performances.

Growing up in Orange County, CA surrounded by rock and hip-hop, Dagger learned the fundamentals of hip-hop while dabbling in graffiti and break dancing in his teens. Moving to Las Vegas after high school, he began to familiarize himself with the rave/party rock scene. It was there he learned the fundamentals of turntablism. Under the guidance of DJ Presto One from The Rock Steady Crew, he began competing in DJ battles and soon became a regular on the DJ circuit playing hip-hop, drum&bass, house and club hits at local hot spots. He is credited with co-producing the long standing hip-hop party dubbed "Sunday Skool'n" that hosted national/local talent and brought Nick Dagger attention from the local music scene.

In 2008, Dagger moved to San Francisco to study music production and sound design in order take his career in a new direction. After a few years of study and practice he began curating his current musical style, which turned out multiple independent singles. He released his first EP Phonographic Memories in 2013. His sound caught the attention of DJ/producer/owner of Avocaudio Music, Roommate, which led to Daggers’ single "Curious" being put on the Avocaudio 2014 summer compilation. In April 2015, he released his second EP Right From Wrong on Avocaudio Music. The EP showcases his ability to combine traditional sounds with forward-thinking basslines that focused on the riddim driven sounds of dub reggae and drum&bass while staying true to the heart and soul of music in order to build a connection with the listener. In a recent interview with SF Weekly’s All Shook Down blog, Dagger stated, “These songs are a defining moment for sure. I wanted to emulate a sound that's been done before but put my own spin on it as to define where I'm at in my productions and pay homage to a sound that's had such an impact on me.”

Currently, Nick Dagger is working on multiple remix projects, an upcoming full-length album, commercial sound design and collaborations with local and international artists. You can catch Nick Dagger playing multiple shows in the U.S. and around the Bay Area at venues like Dub Mission, Shelter SF, Dystopia. He’s also recently been featured at the long standing Las Vegas bass party, Church. The artistry and finely tuned craftsmanship of Nick Dagger's production style and high-energy bass riddim driven DJ sets are not to be missed in the coming months as he lays out a nomadic musical journey connecting to the world through sound and positive vibes.
