Dyson Thesinger - has dominated the San Francisco and Oakland Bay Area music scene for over fifteen years. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Dyson graduated from Kennedy High School in Richmond, and is lead vocalist for the band Special Occasion.
Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with Aaliyah, Jay-Z, Fantasia, Lyfe Jennings, R Kelly, John B, LaToya London and Keisha Cole among others. Dyson has recorded in studio with Quincy Jones, T. I. , E-40, Backstreet Boys, Too Short, Khoree The Poet and Dewayne Wiggins.
Touring highlights include the Rose Bowl, House of Blues, Soul Train, and the iconic Apollo Theatre. Recurring engagements at bay area venues such as the Fenix Supper and Music Club, Everett & Jones Q’s Lounge, Geoffrey’s Inner Circle, the Historic BAL Theater, Yoshi’s, Oakland’s Art and Soul Festival, and Summer Jam round out his performance schedule. Frequently he lends his vocals to other local entertainers including Top Shelf Classics, But-tah's Jook Joint, and D’Coco & Company.
In 2017, Dyson was nominated in seven categories by the Bay Area Black Music Association and Academy of America. He received five awards including Best Live Performer Male for the second consecutive year.
His new CD is a testament to his talent. Released in October 2017, the CD has something for everyone—dance songs, soulful ballads, and jazz, all with remarkable vocals from Dyson. The first single, “Break Away” is available on SoundCloud (soundcloud.com/dyson-thesinger).
