Duo Concertante

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Nancy Dahn, violin; Timothy Steeves, piano

In Canada, Duo Concertante is considered one of the country's premiere chamber ensembles. They're based at Memorial University in Atlantic Canada, and tour regularly in Germany and Europe; Gramophone has praised them as a "miracle". Of the award-winning 10 CD's they've produced, 2017's Incarnation was named one of the top 10 classical albums of the year by the Canada's national broadcaster, the CBC, and they've played many of the important halls: Wigmore, Carnegie, Roy Thomson, and the National Arts Centre, as well as the Forbidden City Concert Hall (Beijing). Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada, they are also both Research Professors at Memorial University and Artistic Directors of the Tuckamore Festival where they are enthusiastic and energetic teachers.

Duo Concertante has commissioned over thirty-five new works from many of Canada's leading composers. Their CDs Wild Honey (a JUNO Award winner - the Canadian "Grammys") and Wild Bird consist entirely of commissioned works. 2017's Incarnation also won the 2018 ECMA (East Coast Music Awards) for Classical Recording of the Year.
