Tap dance, America's most long-standing indigenous jazz vernacular, is here to receive its due. Winner of the 2015 Bessie Award for Outstanding Production, The Blues Project, co-presented with YBCA, is Michelle Dorrance's vision of honoring and pushing the boundaries of tap tradition, bringing it into a sharp, contemporary focus. Blues icon Toshi Reagon, the band BIGLovely, and nine dancers celebrate the confluence of quintessential American dance and music in astonishing tap solos and dazzlingly complex ensembles.
