DogShow: For the Love of Dogs - Reception June 14

Reception Thursday, June 14, from 7-9 p.m., on view from June 15 through July 21

The Harrington Gallery at the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton announces its next major curated exhibit: "DogShow: For the Love of Dogs." The themed installation will be on view from June 15 through July 21. Pieces will include a wide variety of media, including painting, sculpture, collage, and textile arts.

SPECIAL RECEPTION: The public is invited to the opening of the exhibition on Thursday, June 14, from 7-9 p.m. in the gallery. Light refreshments will be served, and it is an opportunity to explore the exhibit and chat with the artists about their work and processes. In addition, special guest Melanie Sadek, Executive Director of Valley Humane Society, will make a short presentation about their programs. Certified Therapy dogs and handlers will also be on hand to meet and greet guests. (no personal pets allowed, please.) Suggested donation $5.00.

The seven artists: Kaethe Bealer from Emeryville, Marina Berlin from San Francisco, Kathleen Hill from Livermore, Lyudmila Kirillova from Belmont, William Rushton from San Jose, Kerri Warner from Sacramento, and Susan Else from Santa Cruz.

ART DEMO: June 20, Wednesday, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Painting demonstration inside the Harrington Gallery by Kathleen Hill.

YOUTH CLASS: June 21, Thursday, 4:30-5:45 p.m. YOUNG @ ART: "Woof!" Fun and educational afternoon program for kids ages 5-11. After visiting the "DogShow" exhibition, participants will create dog-themed art in the Reznick Art Studio upstairs. To register, visit Pleasantonfun.com, class code is 6938. Instructors: Julie Finegan and Debbie Wardrope.

CREATIVE WRITING: July 12, Thursday, 4:00-5:00 p.m. Open to kids aged 8-12. Writing, reading, and games centered around (you guessed it) canines! ($5 suggested donation)
