Hyde Street Studios presents...
Dog Days Jamboree feat. Otis McDonald with Michael Ward with Dogs and Fishes

Hyde Street Studios
https://www.hydestreet.com

Wally Heider Recording opened its doors at 245 Hyde Street in 1969. During these early years, the studio produced many monumental recordings by groups such as the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, CSNY, Santana, CCR, and many others. San Francisco in that era was truly a special place and time in music history, and studio stories from the late 60s - early 70s could fill volumes.

In 1980, Michael Ward and partners took over the facilities formerly occupied by Wally Heider Recording and started Hyde Street Studios. In the 80s and 90s, it was a hub for the emergence of the punk and hip-hop scenes, producing pivotal records by Dead Kennedys, Green Day, Tupac, Digital Underground, and others. Throughout its almost 40 year history, Hyde Street Studios has remained a top destination for major recording artists. Recent
clients include Train, Cake, Kayne West, Daughter, Bob Mould, The Head and The Heart, Mark Kozelek Sun Kil Moon, A$AP Ferg, Panama Wedding, Chuck Prophet, Melvin Seals, OneRepublic, Earth Wind & Fire, Chris Isaak, Rufus Wainwright, and others.

Over the years, the facility has been updated, but remains fundamentally unchanged and is rich in historic character. The original acoustic designs of control rooms and live rooms remain largely untouched and sound as sweet as they did in the early 70's. Hyde Street is also host to unique features you won't find at modern studios, like a functioning (and amazing-sounding) echo chamber, plate and spring reverbs, and tape vault. You can even
find a rack of vintage recording magazines from the 70s and 80s in the studio lounges. Hyde Street Studios is proud to be the longest running multi-room recording studio in the Bay Area.

Otis McDonald
https://www.otismacmusic.com

From the mind and ears of producer/multi-instrumentalist, Joe Bagale, comes a sound that is fresh but tangibly rooted in nostalgia. When taking a listen, one may recall the soul of the 60s or the funk of the 70s. Or perhaps it's pop radio from the 80s or the boom bap beats ofthe early/mid 90s. Whatever it may be, Otis McDonald is the sound of an artist who manifests a lesson in versatility and growing perspective. The production can be dense at times, yet through it's syncopated rhythms and unexpected harmony, Bagale is able to find the space that counts. Musically it's both playful and emotive, while giving listeners a sense of optimism and joy. Just because it's rooted in the blues, doesn't mean it has to have the blues. There are beats that'll make you wanna sweat on the dance floor. A thumpin' bass that inspires folks to make love. Synths, guitars and horns that'll cut through to your core, and a voice that reminds us all what it's like to be human. Combining the skills of a musician, with the power of both old and new technology, the sound of Otis McDonaldwas born, reminding us that music is a universal language that will always have a past and always have a future.

Seal Party
https://www.sealparty.com

Seal Party is RnB and psych rock swirled together by Chris McGrew and Kevin Seal at the legendary Hyde Street Studios. Featuring the silky smooth Kevin Seal on vocals and keys, Chris McGrew on drums and production, the veteran sidemen are now center stage. Featuring guest guitarists, singers and horn players brings even more sidemen to the front. Chris McGrew & Kevin Seal began this experiment in San Francisco, in the surreal orange daylight of 2020. They found themselves with occasional access to a legendary studio: Wally's HydeOut in Hyde Street Studios. Their friends were hungry for opportunities to playmusic. And they had been writing a large batch of new songs that drew on soul harmonies, baritone melodies, and rock syncopation.

With help from multi-instrumentalist Liam Wesley Craddock, they treated each opportunity to record as a chance to throw a party. Each song was a different lineup, depending on which friends could make it. Heavy-hitter jazz players from Chicago and New York joined in too -- Chris Rob, Keyon Harrold, Isaiah Sharkey, Kenneth Whalum.

The full 16-track album arrived in late 2022. MMXXII is a true labor of love. In May and June of 2023, McGrew, Seal, & Craddock will bring this party across the central USA, joined by Spence Murray on bass and Mikey Kmiecik on guitar.
