DOE EYE is the recording project of singer-multi-instrumentalist, Maryam Qudus. The 23-year old announced the release of her debut full-length record T E L E V I S I O N, out April 29, 2014.

Recorded at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco with producer John Vanderslice, (Spoon, The Mountain Goats, Nada Surf), T E L E V I S I O N follows the success of two EPs and her 2011 stand-out single, "I Hate You."

T E L E V I S I O N offers a living, breathing account of a whirlwind year of transition for the singer, who was forced to adapt while taking a solitary break in the suburbs after living an inspired city life in Boston and San Francisco. T E L E V I S I O N lays bare in a blend of grunge and soul, opting for dreamy vintage synthesizers instead of the whimsical strings heard in earlier songs. Built around themes of heartbreak, loneliness, love, and death, T E L E V I S I O N displays how DOE EYE has grown bold with her expression and willingness to reopen old wounds.

The entire album was recorded to two-inch tape at Vanderslice’s Tiny Telephone Studios, adding a warmth and richness to Qudus’s raw honesty and imperfect character. Distorted static and crumpled, broken sounds run rampant behind Qudus’s compelling voice. T E L E V I S I O N is an analog document of how easy it is to fall into a static state when life gets overwhelming. It’s much easier to simply turn on the television.

DOE EYE has been garnering attention and gaining speed since 2011, when she dropped out of the Berklee College of Music to fully pursue her solo career. She has been featured in Billboard magazine, Alternative Press, and MTV.

The singer’s presence is influential both in recording and on stage. DOE EYE started off 2014 opening for Chromatics and Glass Candy in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,000 people at the Tower Theater in Los Angeles. DOE EYE has shared the stage with Grimes,The Breeders and Grouplove.
