Steinway Society – The Bay Area presents the Russian pianist Dmitri Alexeev, whose critically praised recitals on the world’s leading concert stages and appearances with the most prestigious orchestras have secured his position as one of “the most remarkable pianists of the day,†according to The Daily Telegraph.
At this concert, Mr. Alexeev will perform Schumann’s Arabeske op. 18 and Sonata op. 11 no. 1, a series of arrangements by Liszt, including Wagner’s Pilgrims’ Chorus from “Tannhauser†and Isolde’s Liebestod from “Tristan und Isolde†as well as Shubert’s Der Mueller und der Bach, and Aufenthalt. He will also perform Liszt’s original Die Loreley and his arrangement of five of Chopin’s Polish Songs (My Darling, Homecoming, The Spring, The Ring, Bacchanal) from op. 74. Mr. Alexeev will conclude the concert with two works by Chopin, 2 Mazurkas op. 24 no. 3, op.7 no. 3, and Polonaise op. 53 “Heroique.â€
