Who knew there was an award for best stripper DJ? Apparently San Francisco DJ Hell Rell has won it three years in a row in SF Weekly. Whether he's DJing for strippers or just us regular folk, his sets tend to include plenty of R&B, hip-hop, house, electro and dubstep, though his heart is in hip-hop, so that's where his focus will be. As a stripper DJ, he was noteworthy for assembling some funky, thought-out, creative mixes where most of his contemporaries simply press play, have a beer and watch the performers. He's playing one of his equally creative non-stripper sets this Thursday at Fahrenheit in San Jose. (Aaron Carnes)
