Non Stop Bhangra is excited to team up with The New Parish in Oakland to present one of our favorite live acts Delhi 2 Dublin. If you've haven't made it out to their annual show at our March Non Stop Bhangra St. Patty's Day celebration in SF, here's your chance to check them out this month. They put on a great show and will make you dance your socks off. Non Stop Bhangra crew will be in the house supporting the vibes with DJ Jimmy Love on the decks alongside Jay Singh and long time Non Stop Bhangra friend and regular guest DJ Santero. DELHI 2 DUBLIN:
Vancouver-based Delhi 2 Dublin is a group of musicians who mash up electronica and world music, keeping it heavy on the Bhangra, Celtic and Dub flavours. Fusing tabla, fiddle, dhol, Punjabi vocals, and electric sitar with scorching electronic beats, the crew takes listeners on a wild ride through global sounds and synchronicities.
Originally formed for a one-shot performance during Vancouver's Celtic Fest in March of 2006, word of their foot stomping, high energy live set started to spread, and the project took on a life of its own. Since then, D2D has been busy gigging constantly, touring Eastern Canada and California, playing some of Canada's largest festivals (including the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Shambhala, Salmon Arm Roots and Blues) as well as being invited to open the massive Canada Day celebrations for 40,000 people on Parliament Hill in Ottawa in 2007. They've shared the bill with names like De La Soul, Cheb i Sabbah, and Metric, and have found a cult following in many of the West Coast's smaller communities and towns.
With seven albums out, 2014 has Delhi 2 Dublin releasing their very first, and much anticipted, LIVE album, recorded at the iconic Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC on their 8th birthday. Described by one magazine as the "United Nations of rock 'n' roll", Delhi 2 Dublin has become one of Canada's most buzzed about bands.
