Join the Death and Taxes Swing Band at Ashkenaz in Berkeley for something a little bit different on Halloween Night.
The Death and Taxes Swing Band is a crazy amalgamation of seasoned professionals and overly enthusiastic college students. Half jazz band, half rock band, the Death and Taxes Swing Band brings a fresh look to hosting a swing dance.
At Ashkenaz from 8 - 10 pm on Oct 31, there will be a dance lesson followed by a wild swing dance. Come in costume or come casually.
The Death and Taxes Swing Band was formed as a reaction to the cancellation of a local college program and had their first show at Ashkenaz a year and a half ago. Since then the group has been bringing out big crowds all over the Bay Area and as far afield as Florida, Singapore and Bali. The cast of this wild ensemble features a diverse group of people, from local Oakland Symphony Orchestra members to young guns still working on graduating college.
