Jazz Remedy presents saxophone master David Murray, his son Mingus, on guitar, and their Class Struggle Band for an unforgettable evening of music. David Murray has enchanted audiences around the world with his rocket-fueled streak of sonic creativity. His music defies genre boundaries, weaving a unique tapestry of sound. David is a masterful musician, who will cast a spell with every note!

The Tasting Room at Vino Godfather Mansion on Mare Island in Vallejo, provides a gracious and intimate setting to enjoy David's captivating sound. Vino Godfather wines and light food will be available for purchase. Wheelchair accessible. Plenty of free street parking. Seating is limited! Preference will be given to those with advance ticket purchase.

Mr. Murray is a co-founder of the historic World Saxophone Quartet with Hamiet Bluiett, Oliver Lake and Julius Hemphill. He has played with the greats: Bobby Bradford, Arthur Blythe, Stanley Crouch, Cecil Taylor, Dewey Redman, Sunny Murray, Tony Braxton, Don Cherry, Lester Bowie, Frank Lowe, Jerry Garcia, Max Roach, Randy Weston, Elvin Jones and many others.

David's awards include: a Grammy and several nominations; a Guggenheim Fellowship; the Bird Award; the Danish Jazzpar Prize; Village Voice musician of the decade; Newsday musician of the year; personality of the Guinness Jazz festival, and the Ralph J. Simon Rex Award. Two documentaries have been made about David Murray’s life: “Speaking in Tongues” and “Jazzman”, nominated at the Baltimore Film Festival.

Jazz Remedy is a young organization dedicated to presenting creative, progressive and modern music. This is our second concert! Our first was in February with giants Kahil El'Zabar, Hamiet Bluiett and Craig Harris.
