THIS EVENT HAS ENDED
"My lofty goal is to be able to play everything!", says 28-year old pianist David Meder of his ambitions and crowd-sourced debut "Passage." AllAboutJazz says: "Meder is well on his way!" Meder possesses a strength of vision, a firm confidence, and the solid technical chops to accomplish what he sets out to do. A semifinalist in the 2018 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition, as well as the highly prestigious American Pianists Award (think Jason Moran!), Meder was recently appointed to the highly-acclaimed jazz faculty at University of North Texas. Meder's unique and distinctly Americana approach to his compositions, arrangements and performance style continues to turn heads across the globe! "Passages" has received warm acclaim from jazz critics and jazz lovers alike. In the album Meder embarks on an ambitious postmodernist outing, traversing a rarely-played Thelonious Monk piece, a gospel hymn, a title track inspired by Philip Glass, and original compositions on the cutting edge of modern jazz.
