Dark Side of the 80's

DJ X (Malign/HouseOfUsherNightClub/RodericksChamber/Black Orchid/86X)
Xavier Haight started his music career as a musician in the 80’s. After being in several bands he started his solo project, Malign which released a full length album in 1996 called “Shatter & Impale” on the Anubis recordings label. The track “Skin & Lye” from the album became an international cult classic which is still played in clubs today. This was the same label that released the west coast based compilation “The Disease Of Lady Madeline”, a compilation that Xavier arranged as an important representation of the current goth industrial scene at the time. The title is a reference to Edgar Allen Poe and was connected to the goth industrial club that he started with his wife, Shawni in 1992. Peter Stone From the band Xorcist was brought in as a partner shortly after the opening of Usher to manage the Industrial side of the club night. Several derivatives branched out from Usher such as “Through The Looking Glass, Scourge, Worship, and many other club nights that were started by House Of Usher employees. After a three year run, Usher closed due to cabaret licensing issues. Shawni and Xavier then opened the club Roderick’s Chamber which ran for 7 years starting at Cat Club, then moving to City Nights due to capacity issues. This was the apex of the goth industrial scene where there was a club 4+ nights of the week supporting this musical movement. Currently Xavier DJ ‘s the occasional Usher/Roderick’s reunions as well as promoting and spinning recent club nights such as Undertone and the Sacramento based night 86X. Xavier plays many guest dj spots for various promoters and produces private parties of all sizes and genres. Xavier is very excited to be working once again with Randy Maupin and the Cat Club Staff on a new club night called “Dark Side of the 80's”. One of Xavier’s favorite venues to work with, Cat Club has been a venue involved in many nights throughout his career. Starting out by sneaking into adult clubs and events at age 16, it’s been 37 years experience and he shows no sign of quitting anytime soon.
