About the Favolare Ensemble.
Favolare Ensemble was founded in 2014 by Stacey Helley, began as Favolare Project (to tell fables or to fable-ize), dedicated to exploration of the story-telling essence of vocal music written before 1800. Monteverdi's L'Orfeo is a Favola in musica and Caccini sought a new vocal expression he called favellare in armonia (discourse in song). More than poetry or drama set to music, there is a bigger picture about how a culture at a particular time chooses to unite music with words.
