Danielle Eubank has spent the last 20 years exploring, observing and painting the water of every ocean on Earth. She is widely known as one of the foremost painters of water and a true expert on her subject. Her last expedition took her to Antarctica to study the Southern Ocean. The waters of this sea have continued to resonate with her and have led her deeper into her artistic practice. Boundless is a series of paintings that push further into thoughts of abstraction and introspection. In her newest compositions, ripples undulate across the surface of the canvas without boundaries or limits. "Now, I am in the painting, surrounded by water. With each movement of my paint brush, I am reliving the motion, color, sounds, scents and forms of the water. While painting, I am communicating with the Southern Ocean and journeying deeper within myself."
Eubank earned her MFA at UCLA and has lectured at conferences and universities in Japan, Korea, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Mexico, The United States, Spain, Syria and Italy. From 2011-2014, she painted the Henley Royal Regatta, in Henley-on-Thames, England. In 2012, a documentary film about her work, Mozambique VI, premiered at the Newport Beach Film Festival. In 2014-15, she was a recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. In 2018, she was a Creative Climate Award nominee and the awardee of the WCA/United Nations Program Honor Roll Award in 2019. Eubank exhibits widely in the US and UK, as well as Europe and Asia. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles, where she is an active member of the arts community and works to facilitate public conversations about water and climate issues.
