Santana may be the name most people associate with '70s Latin rock n roll, but there were actually a whole group of bands mixing Latin music and rock & roll at that time. Dakila, also out of San Francisco, played a similar conga-driven, funky Latin acid rock sound, only they were Filipino. In addition to songs in English and Spanish, they also sang in Tagalog. They scored a major label deal with Epic back in the day, releasing their self-titled LP in 1972. They broke up before getting anything on the radio. Last year, after a 40-year hiatus, they started hitting the stage again. They still rip some mean psychedelic riffs, bust some impressive driving Latin beats and top it off with their signature wailing organ. (Aaron Carnes)
